Peterborough: A great place to live and work
With its historic core revolving around one of England’s most beautiful cathedrals, the city has been carefully planned and developed to provide a quality of life that is
hard to match. It’s 170,000 inhabitants speak over 100 languages, and its cultural life is rich: good shopping, superb eating out (especially in some of the surrounding villages); pubs and clubs, theatres and cinemas.
Housing is relatively inexpensive, meaning your income goes further here. There is a large stock of modern housing and some wonderful and historic stone built properties within easy commuting distance. Peterborough is surrounded by characterful towns and villages, giving you a wide choice of settings where you can make a real home. There is some fantastic countryside near to Peterborough and plenty of open spaces within the City. It has one of the best network of safe cycle routes in any British city. There are many castles, stately homes, rivers, lakes and reservoirs - in fact amenities for pretty much any leisure or family activity. (Yes, even though it is quite flat to the East of the City, there is a ski-slope !)
Peterborough has a selection of very good schools, in both the state and private sectors.
Travel connections are very good, with the main A1(M) just to the West of the City connecting us to London in the South and up to Edinburgh. The main East-West connection is the A14, just a few miles South. Peterborough is just 50 minutes by train, on the main East Coast route, from Kings Cross, London. Within just over an hour, you can reach airports at Stansted, Luton, East Midlands and Birmingham. Heathrow is about 90 minutes.
